The Requirements 

Pursuant to Labor Code 2019 no.1,2 of Article 151. Requirements for foreigners to work in Vietnam are as follows:

1. Foreign workers working in Vietnam are those with foreign nationality and must satisfy the following conditions:

- Being 18 years old or older and having full civil act capacity.

- Having professional qualifications, techniques, skills and working experience; be healthy as prescribed by the Minister of Health.

- Not being a person who is currently serving a sentence or has not yet had his/her criminal record cleared or is being examined for penal liability in accordance with foreign or Vietnamese laws.

- Having a work permit issued by a competent Vietnamese state agency; except for the case specified in Article 154 of this Code.

- The term of the labor contract for foreign workers working in Vietnam must not exceed the term of the work permit. When employing foreign workers to work in Vietnam; The two parties may agree to enter into a definite-term labor contract many times.

Conditions for granting permits for foreigners to teach in Vietnam

Foreigners who want to come to Vietnam to work long-term need to; meet the conditions for granting a work permit. For foreign teachers teaching in Vietnam, the following conditions are required:

- Have a work permit to work legally in the territory of Vietnam (if the teacher teaches for more than 3 months).

- Being hired by a Vietnamese educational institution to guarantee work and stay in accordance with the provisions of law.

- Have sufficient documents to prove that the person is eligible; teaching experience in Vietnam (degrees, certificates of experience, professional certificates of teaching pedagogy...).

- Having papers proving health conditions and being subject to full civil act capacity; is not the subject of a crime or is criminally responsible.

- The training institution must be approved in writing by the competent state agency for the use of foreign workers; Foreigners teach in Vietnam.
