Under Covid-19 circumstances, the Vietnamese government has temporarily stopped issuing a Vietnam Visa for foreigners as of 00:00 on 18 March 2020.
Currently, due to the demands of businesses and disease control in the country, the Vietnamese Government has approved granting a Vietnam Visa for foreigners who are specialists, technical labor, foreign investors coming to Vietnam for business purposes. However, foreigners have to satisfy conditions of immigration and health to obtain a Vietnam Visa.
So how can foreigners enter Vietnam during the current Covid-19 pandemic?
Foreigners must belong to one of these following cases:
Only foreigners in exempted categories are allowed to enter Vietnam
Foreigners belonging to cases mentioned in Section 1 must have a business guarantee to carry out these following procedures.
Step 1: Get a Vietnam entry permit at the People’s Committee. Documents include:
Step 2: Register a quarantine place and a quarantine plan at local Health Departments.
Step 3: Get a Vietnam entry permit at the Immigration Department.
Go to the Immigration Department to apply for a Vietnam entry permit
An entry approval letter for foreigners will be processed for at least 4 weeks. After getting a Vietnam entry permit, foreigners will be granted a Vietnam Visa in case they don’t have one.
Foreigners must obtain a Vietnam Visa to enter the country
Foreigners must have a flight itinerary and a medical examination before entering Vietnam.
After getting into Vietnam, businesses and foreigners must satisfy conditions of disease control (PCR test, 14-day quarantine at the registered quarantine facility, medical declaration, etc.) as well as health care costs, if any.
